We’re looking for candidates at all levels, from law graduates to experienced lawyers. We’re interested in people wishing to work either part-time or fulltime. Also people returning to work from parental leave, or people looking to contract for a year or two. You’ll enjoy working closely with clients, have a strong desire to solve client problems, be flexible and be willing to learn and share your knowledge. Solid in-house or government experience will be a real advantage for most roles, but we’ve placed many graduates and junior lawyers as well.
We operate throughout Australia. Many of our clients are national organisations with staff in multiple locations.
Yes – that’s our model! In most cases, you’ll be embedded with client teams, working with clients on a day-to-day basis and reporting directly to them. You’ll learn how the client works, what they value and get a chance to make a real difference to their operations.
Our clients are involved in a huge range of government, commercial and not-for-profit activities. You choose the assignments and the work that’s of interest to you.
We’ll listen to what you want and we’ll do our best to help you realise your job wishes. We match your needs and wishes with client requirements. We’ve placed fulltime and part-time candidates, across a wide range of legal specialities, with individual and team engagements ranging from less than one month to over two years.
We pay very competitively, based on the number of hours you want to work and your skills and experience.
Where a client accepts our proposal, we engage you and place you with the client. For some short-term engagements, this may be under a casual contract. For longer-term engagements, we may employ you as a permanent employee. However, we’re open to alternative arrangements and are happy to discuss options, including engaging you via your own company or as an independent contractor.
No. You are free to work for other organisations if you wish. That said, many of our staff choose to work exclusively for us. We do, however, require you to meet your commitments to our clients and to us. This includes maintaining confidentiality and avoiding conflicts of interest.
When we place staff with clients, we stay in close contact with both you and the client to make sure things are running smoothly. Staff are able to draw on the systems and knowledge of Canberra’s largest independent law firm.
After you send us your CV, we’ll be in touch. We’ll have a chat about your skills and experience, why you’re interested in working with MVP* and the types of work you would like to do. This gives us a chance to check you out, and for you to get to know us. If we’re both still interested following this chat, we’ll discuss opportunities. Where your skills and experience match a client’s needs, we’ll confirm with you and then put a proposal to the client. Once the client agrees, we’ll work with you and the client to make sure the placement runs smoothly.
